Grosso Gold was imported to Canada in 2005. He has been started and goes walk, trot, canter under saddle with ease. He has a great character and a positive work attitude.

His sire Grosso Z has created a great deal of interest, in that he has not only produced the international jumping star Goldfever; but also the international dressage horse, Goethe.

Grosso Z, as his name indicates, was bred by perhaps the most famous private jumping stud farm of them all: Léon Melchior's Zangersheide, in Lanaken,Belgium, and is a descendant of the famed Hanoverian ‘G’ line.

Grosso Z is by Goliath II Z (international showjumper under Willy van der Ham). Goliath II Z is by Graf Gotthard by Gotthard, and out of the foundation mare of the Zangersheide breeding program - Heureka by Ganeff. Heureka was a star, winning the Grand Prix of Aachen. She is the grand-dam of Ratina Z and her three stallion full-brothers, Rebel I, II and III.

Grosso Z's dam Füchsin, is by Furioso II out of a Lugano I mare. Füchsin was the dam of expensive auction horses and the licensed stallion Cadence Z, who competed successfully in the open jumper division.

Grosso Z himself won the title Champion Stallion in Belgium and then was moved to Germany and where he went on to win the Stallion Performance test in Warendorf; scoring a sensational 148.85 thanks to his basic gaits, rideability and jumping ability. He then competed up to M level jumping under Jan Nivelle and later switched, showing up to Intermediaire Level I the dressage arena. Undoubtedly his most famous offspring, is Ludger Beerbaum’s stallion Goldfever. Goethe is currently another star son for Grosso Z. This stallion Goethe is winning Grand Prix Dressage under Heiner Schiergen.

Grosso Gold’s dam Julios Roeschen is by the English Thoroughbred, St Leger winner Julio Mariner. She finished her mare performance test with a rideability score of 8 and a jumping score of 9. In 2004 she competed successfully in Young Riding Horse Classes for 5yr olds, while in foal for the fourth time. Julio Roeschen’s family is one of the most influential for the Hanoverian breeding: in a book that traces the most significant Hanoverian mare families, Julio Roeschen’s family comes first. Some of Grosso Gold’s close relatives out of this mare line are Stakkato Gold (Gestuet Sprehe), Schwarzgold (Flyinge), and Wertherroeschen (Michael Whitaker).
